Puma (2) vs. Gelada (8)

Pumas are powerful stalk-and-pounce predators that sometimes hunt primates, especially in areas where their usual prey is scarce. Geladas, which naturally share habitats with wild cats in Africa, have sharp canine teeth and strong social instincts that help them defend themselves.

In a temperate forest in Virginia, a lone gelada calls out for his group just as a hungry puma moves in silently. The puma attacks, but the gelada fights back with surprising strength and escapes into the trees. When the branches break and he falls into a nearby river, the gelada manages to scramble away and disappear into the night.

Puma outlasts gelada.
